The Higham Hill Maktab is devoted to furnishing students with a secure and nurturing Islamic learning environment. Our goal is to cultivate a love for Islamic knowledge in children, guided by qualified educators, with the aspiration of achieving the highest educational standards.
MANDATORY
It is imperative to consistently respect and adhere to the instructions provided by the Higham Hill Maktab. Please take time to review and understand these terms and conditions. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to provide a rich Islamic educational experience for our students.

CHARGES FEES
Fees must be paid in advance and on time. Failure to pay fees for four consecutive weeks may result in student dismissal.
- The Higham Hill Maktab operates for 11 months, aligning with school holidays.
- Monthly fees are £30, with a one-off admission fee of £25.
- Additional costs for books and bags may apply.
- Hifz lesson fees are £60; please refer to the next page for a breakdown of tuition fees.
- Sunday session fees are £30.

How Bank Standing Order Work Out (Tuition fee £30 Per Child per month)
£30X11 Months = £330 ÷ 12 Months = £27.50 (With bank standing order you can only setup for 12 months)
Where there three or more kids 10% Discount given from second child. For Example, Frist child, full payment which is £30 Second and Third child £27.

ENROL
Higham Hill Maktab welcomes enrolment for students aged 4 to 12 for weekday sessions. Students aged 13 and above are not eligible for weekday sessions but are encouraged to join the Sunday class. Please note that enrolment is not available for children under 4 years of age. Once students reach the age of 14, they will automatically transition to the Sunday session.
SESSIONS
Higham Hill Maktab offers three weekly sessions: Session One, Session Two, and a Sunday Session. Session One and Session Two take place on weekdays, Monday through Friday.

SYLLABUS
Higham Hill Maktab follows the Safar Academy syllabus, as published by Safar Publications. During the weekday sessions, we cover Books One to Six, while the Sunday session is dedicated to Books Seven and Eight.
- The Higham Hill Maktab primarily employs the Safar syllabus (safarpublications.org). Every student is obligated to follow our prescribed syllabus and teaching methodology.
- Please note If a student’s Quranic reading proficiency falls short of the required standard, they will be placed at the appropriate level in Qaidah.
Students are expected to bring the necessary books in accordance with the provided timetable.
SESSION
Students are required to attend their designated sessions consistently, with no option to alternate days. Participation in other activities during scheduled session times is not permitted. Should a session change be necessary, please contact the Maktab administration in advance for assistance.
Weekday sessions focus on teaching Books One to Six, while the Sunday session is specifically designed for teenage boys and girls, covering Books Seven and Eight. Additionally, we accommodate parents who both work during the weekdays by offering Sunday sessions for younger children upon request. However, we recommend enrolling younger students in the weekday sessions whenever possible for a more structured learning experience.
TIMETABLE
The Maktab class timings are as follows: Monday to Thursday, 5 pm to 7 pm. On Fridays, we have two sessions: Session one runs from 5 pm to 6 pm, and Session two is from 6 pm to 7 pm. Additionally, on Sundays, our sessions are scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm. Please be aware that on occasion, there might be a slight delay at the end of the session due to the need for lessons to be completed thoroughly.
WUDU
Prior to attending the Maktab, students are kindly advised to attend to their basic needs, which encompass having lunch, using the toilet, and performing Wudu (ablution) at home.
DRESS CODE (Uniform)
Parents/Guardians are responsible for ensuring that students adhere to the following guidelines:
- Boys should wear white Thobe (Long white dress)
- Boys must cover their head by wearing appropriate Islamic hat (TUPI).
- Girls are required to wear a black Abaya and a white scarf. Hair must be fully covered at all times
PROHIBITED DRESS CODE
- It is not permissible to wearing makeup, lipstick, nail polish, fake nail and other substance.
- Boys are prohibited from wearing any jewellery
- Stylish or unconventional beard and hairstyles, such as short back and sides, wedge cuts, etc., are not permissible.
PUNCTUALITY AND ATTENDANCE
It is the responsibility of Parents/Guardians to ensure:
- Children arrive at least five minutes prior to the start of class.
- In the event of a child’s absence or late, Parents/Guardians should inform the Maktab through the student absent form on our website: hhmaktab.co.uk/student-absent-form.
LATENESS
- Late arrivals without valid reasons will not be tolerated.
- Students arriving more than 5 minutes after the start of class will be considered late.
- Persistent lateness will result in disciplinary action
PICK UP AND DROPPING OFF
- Please use the designated drop-off and pick-up car park areas.
- Parents/Guardians are expected to pick up and drop off their children on time from the school door.
- If there will be a delay in picking up your child, kindly inform the Maktab.
- If your child has permission to go home or to the car park alone, please inform the Maktab.
USE OF CAR PARK
- The small car park is solely for delivery purposes.
- When dropping off or picking up your children at the car park, please ensure safe parking practices that do not obstruct other users.
USE OF TOILET
Older students are generally not permitted to use the toilet unless there is a medical issue. We are more lenient with younger students in this regard, but older students will not have toilet access during lesson time. If your child has a medical condition that necessitates special attention, please ensure that you declare it in the student enrolment form or inform the Maktab.
TOYS/UNNECESSARY ITEMS
Students should refrain from bringing unnecessary items such as pocket games, marbles, cards, and sweets to the Maktab, any such items found will be confiscated until collected by parents.
MOBILE PHONE
Parents are requested to inform the Maktab administration if their child needs to bring a mobile phone to Maktab. Students are required to hand over their mobile phones to their teacher at the start of lesson. Please refrain from contacting your child during lesson times.
LOST AND STOLLEN
In the unfortunate event of lost or stolen items, the Maktab, including its teachers, volunteers, and staff, bears no legal responsibility.
FOOD AND DRINK
- Consumption of food and drink is not allowed within the classroom.
- Normal water bottles are permitted.
- If your child requires water at all times, kindly inform the Maktab.
PENDEMIC
During a pandemic disease outbreak, if your child has tested positive, kindly refrain from sending them to the Maktab. Only children who have tested negative should attend the Maktab. In the event of a complete lockdown prompted by a pandemic disease, lessons will be transitioned to online platforms.
PROCEDURE FOR COMPLAINTS
Parents/Guardians are expected to adhere to the complaint procedure detailed on the Maktab website. Failure to do so might result in our inability to give due consideration to your concerns.
CONCERN
Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to promptly communicate any concerns regarding their child’s well-being to the Maktab management. This encompasses matters such as bullying or inappropriate behaviour. Should your concern pertain to your child’s progress, it is essential to engage with the head teacher for guidance.
NO TOLERENCE
The Maktab maintains a strict stance against any form of abusive language, threats, or inappropriate behaviour directed towards students or staff. Ill treatment or disrespect will not be tolerated.
WITHDRAW WITHOUT NOTICE
Parents/Guardians are not permitted to take any actions against students or staff without abiding by the Complaints Policy and Procedures. In instances of abusive behaviour or threats, the Maktab retains the right to withdraw students without prior notification.
If parents fail to adhere to the Complaints Policy and Procedures and are found engaging in abusive language, making threats, or any form of disruptive behaviour towards our students or staff, the Maktab will promptly withdraw your children without prior notice.
ACCIDENT OR ILLNESS
In the event that a child falls ill, sustains an injury, soils their clothes, or even wets themselves during class hours, the parents or guardians will be promptly notified, and arrangements will be made for the child to be sent home if necessary.
RESPECT
Students are expected to exhibit respectful behaviour towards their peers, teachers, and staff.
BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT
Misconduct and unacceptable behaviour may lead to the expulsion of students.
The Higham Hill Maktab takes serious actions against student misconduct, encompassing behaviours such as being disrespectful towards teachers, fellow students, and members of staff; being disruptive in the classroom; engaging in off-task conversations; using inappropriate language; failing to adhere to the code of conduct; bringing food into the class; causing disturbances; not maintaining proper seating or moving without permission from their chair; using mobile phones; engaging in loud outbursts; engaging in fights or bullying; ridiculing others; running around within the premises; and any other forms of misbehaviour.
STEPS TAKEN TO DEAL WITH STUDENT BEHAVIOUR.
- Detention or Booster club may be assigned if a student fails to learn the assigned lesson or does not adhere to the rules.
- Parents will receive a text message to collect their child at the specified time.
STEPS TAKEN TO DEAL WITH STUDENT SERIOUS BEHAVIOUR ISSUE.
- Meeting with parents will be arranged.
- If the behaviour persists, parents will be called to pick up their child.
- Continued misbehaviour will result in a 5-day suspension.
- As a last resort, students may be asked to leave the Maktab.
FIGHT AND BULLYING
- Immediate suspension of one week and parents will be notified for pickup.
- Continued misbehaviour will result in removal from the Maktab.
DISMISSAL WITHOUT ANY NOTICE
Immediate dismissal will be enforced if a student is discovered in possession of a knife, firearm, drugs, or is engaged in drug consumption.
UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES
Parents/Guardians will be promptly informed of unforeseen events such as adverse weather or school cancellations by Walthamstow Academy. Please note that the Maktab may give extra days off due to continuing of bad weather conditions, construction or any other work going on in the school.
HOLIDAYS
- Most holidays align with school holidays; please refer to our website for the term schedule: www.hhmaktab.co.uk.
- Approximately 13 weeks of holidays are planned, with fees remaining applicable.
- Two school opening evenings are scheduled at Walthamstow Academy.
- Two INSET days for staff training.
- Two Eid holidays are observed.
